· based on Cryptohall24 data
The Zcash mining calculator shows you in seconds what a ZEC miner earns at your electricity price: revenue, electricity costs and break-even electricity price - based on the current network hashrate in Sol/s, the block reward and the current price. The widget automatically relates your device, your electricity price and this network data to each other and shows the result in real time. Choose a model from the list, for example from the Antminer Z15 series, or enter hashrate and power consumption freely - for instance for a quote you're currently reviewing.

How to use the calculator

Select your Zcash model at the top of the widget, for example from the Antminer Z15 series, or manually enter hashrate in Sol/s and power consumption in watts - Zcash measures computing power as solutions per second (Sol/s), not in H/s like most other coins, so pay attention to the correct unit when transferring datasheet values. Then enter your actual electricity price per kilowatt-hour - this is the lever with the greatest influence on the result. The calculator then shows you the estimated daily yield in ZEC and euros, the electricity costs and the break-even electricity price, i.e. the threshold up to which a device's calculation stays in positive territory. All outputs are a calculation example with no guarantee, based on current network data from Cryptohall24's own, daily updated network monitoring - hashrate and price change continuously, so every calculation is a snapshot, not a promise of earnings.

What determines Zcash yield

Zcash is mined with specialised Equihash ASICs, such as the Antminer Z15 series. Your share of the yield results from the ratio of your own hashrate to the network hashrate, multiplied by the block reward and the current price. Unlike coins with monthly or annual reduction, Zcash has a classic halving at a fixed block height: the block reward halves abruptly on a set date, with the next halving scheduled for 23 November 2028. How the network hashrate itself develops, and when a halving shifts the yield, is explained on the Zcash Network Hashrate page.

Zcash as a privacy coin - what this means for mining

In addition to ordinary, transparent transactions, Zcash optionally offers shielded transactions based on zk-SNARKs. This option changes nothing for the mining calculation itself: your ASIC solves Equihash computing tasks regardless of whether users send transparent or shielded transactions, and the block reward is paid out under the same rules. This feature is mainly relevant for assessing the network as a whole, less so for the calculation in the calculator above.

Mining at home or with hosting

Whether a Zcash miner's numbers work out depends mainly on the electricity price. Mining at home is possible with an efficient device and low-cost energy, such as surplus solar power; at typical German household electricity prices, however, the calculation quickly gets tight - also because of operating noise and waste heat in living areas. For professional operation outside your own four walls, Cryptohall24 hosts Zcash ASICs from the Antminer Z15 series in its own partner data centres. Simply enter the electricity price relevant to you in the calculator to run your scenario. More on this at Mining hosting at Cryptohall24.

FAQ
Do you have questions? You may well find the right answer here.

How accurate is the Zcash mining calculator?

The calculator works with daily updated network data from Cryptohall24's own monitoring - network hashrate, block reward and price. The results are snapshots: if the network hashrate or the price changes, so does the result. The calculation does not come with any promise of future earnings.

Which Zcash miners can I calculate?

All common Equihash ASICs, including the Antminer Z15 series from Bitmain. The free-entry option also lets you check devices that aren't in the selection list - enter the hashrate in Sol/s and power consumption from the datasheet.

Why is Zcash hashrate given in Sol/s instead of H/s?

Zcash uses the Equihash algorithm, in which miners search for computational solutions rather than simple hashes - performance is therefore measured in Sol/s (solutions per second). Pay attention to this unit when transferring datasheet values into the calculator, otherwise the result will be skewed.

What happens to my yield at the next Zcash halving?

Unlike many other coins, the Zcash block reward doesn't decline continuously but drops abruptly by half on a fixed date. The next halving is scheduled for 23 November 2028; from that date, the amount of ZEC paid out per block will be cut in half.
