Select your Ethereum Classic device at the top of the widget, for example from the Antminer E11 series, or enter hashrate and power draw manually - this also applies to GPU rigs, with which Etchash can still be computed across several graphics cards. Then enter your actual electricity price per kilowatt-hour - this is the lever with the greatest influence on the result. The calculator then shows you the estimated daily revenue in ETC and euros, the electricity cost, and the break-even electricity price, i.e. the threshold up to which a device is calculated to be in profit. All figures are a calculation example with no guarantee, based on current network data from Cryptohall24's own network monitoring, updated daily - hashrate and price change continuously, so every calculation is a snapshot, not a promise of future earnings.
Ethereum Classic is mined with the Etchash algorithm - GPU-heavy, though specialised ASICs such as the Antminer E11 series from Bitmain are now also used. Your share of the earnings results from the ratio of your own hashrate to the network hashrate, multiplied by the block reward and the current price. Ethereum Classic has no halving; instead, under ECIP-1017 the block reward decreases by 20 percent every 5 million blocks - referred to in the ecosystem as the "Fifthening". How the network hashrate itself develops is explained on the Ethereum Classic network hashrate page.
Ethereum Classic emerged in 2016 from a split of the Ethereum network and has consistently stuck to the proof-of-work principle ever since. When Ethereum switched to proof of stake in 2022 and no longer needed mining, a substantial share of the GPU hashrate previously used for Ethereum migrated to Ethereum Classic. This remains relevant today for miners with existing GPU hardware: Ethereum Classic is one of the few remaining larger proof-of-work chains where graphics cards can still be put to sensible use.
Whether Ethereum Classic mining pays off depends mainly on the electricity price. Mining at home is possible with existing GPU hardware and cheap energy, such as surplus solar power; at typical German household electricity prices, the numbers quickly get tight - also because of operating noise and waste heat in a living space. For professional operation outside your own four walls, Cryptohall24 hosts Ethereum Classic ASICs from the Antminer E11 series in its own partner data centres. Simply enter the electricity price relevant to you in the calculator to run your own scenario. More on this under mining hosting at Cryptohall24.
