The Bitmain Antspace HK3 V6 is a hydro mining container in 20-foot format that holds 210 water-cooled miners from the S19 and S21 hydro series. Fully loaded, it draws 1,047 to 1,050 kilowatts and is supplied with 400 volts at 50 or 60 hertz. A water circuit carries the miners' heat to an external cooling tower. It weighs 8 tonnes when shipped and 12 tonnes in operation.
Which miners fit the Antspace HK3 V6
The container is designed for the hydro machines of the S19 and S21 series. From our range, these include the Antminer S19 XP Hydro, the Antminer S21 Hydro, the Antminer S21+ Hydro and the Antminer S21 XP Hydro. Each slot is rated for a maximum of 10 amps.
The Antspace HW5 offers the same number of slots in 40-foot format.
Power, cooling and installation of the Antspace HK3 V6
Two main switches of 1,200 amps each distribute the power; the rated current is 952 amps on side A and 866 amps on side B. The feed runs over single-core cables rated for more than 600 volts: four 300 mm² cables per phase and for the neutral, and two 240 mm² cables for earth. One 2,500 kVA transformer supplies two containers.
Cooling runs through a plate heat exchanger and an external cooling tower, either a dry-wet tower with 1,000 kilowatts of cooling capacity or two dry towers. More than 85 cubic metres of water per hour flow through the circuit, connected via DN100. The PUE is 1.022 without and 1.032 with the cooling tower. If it freezes where the miner is operated, antifreeze must be added to the circuit.
Installation requires hardened ground that can bear at least 25 tonnes and a 20-tonne crane for unloading. The cooling tower must stand level to within ±1 degree and needs 2 metres of clear space all round for its air intake. The container operates up to 2,000 metres altitude at minus 25 to 40 degrees and 10 to 90 percent humidity. Below zero degrees the ventilation shutters stay closed, and the miners only start once the interior is warmer than 20 degrees. Stairs, walkways, transformers, cables and distribution boxes are not part of the delivery.
The container is certified by the China Classification Society and also meets NFPA 79, UL 508A, CSA C22.2 No. 14, ISO 12100 and IEC 60204.
Verdict: hydro mining with the Bitmain Antspace HK3 V6
The Antspace HK3 V6 is a solid container that does its job well. Hydro containers like this one are widely used, and we operate a great many of them ourselves.
For operation in Germany and the EU, however, we advise against it: the container is not designed for European standards. It is better suited to sites outside Europe, for example in South America, Africa or Asia. For projects in Europe, we recommend solutions from other providers.
