Description

The Bitmain Antminer L9 is an air-cooled Litecoin miner that Bitmain announced in April 2024 and brought to market in June 2024. It runs the Scrypt algorithm and mines Litecoin and Dogecoin, and also smaller Scrypt coins such as Bellscoin, Junkcoin, Luckycoin and Pepecoin. We carry the L9 in three performance levels from 15 to 17 GH/s, all at 210 joules per gigahash. At 14.2 kilograms, the L9 runs on single-phase power between 220 and 277 volts.

All three levels sit at 210 joules per gigahash, so whoever picks the larger level pays for the extra hashrate one to one in watts. Bitmain's datasheet lists only the 16 GH/s level, the 15 and 17 GH/s units are the production bins Bitmain shipped alongside it.

Design, power connection and cooling of the L9

The L9 measures 400 × 195 × 290 mm, its shipping box 570 × 316 × 430 mm at a gross weight of 16.3 kilograms. At full fan speed Bitmain measures 75 dBA, more than any room where people work or sleep will put up with. Bitmain's approved range is unusually wide: minus 20 to 45 degrees Celsius in operation and minus 40 to 70 degrees in storage, in each case at 10 to 90 percent humidity as long as nothing condenses. The 3,150 to 3,570 watts turn entirely into waste heat that has to leave the room.

The connection is single-phase at 220 to 277 volts, 50 to 60 hertz and up to 20 amps. A wrong input voltage can damage the unit, Bitmain says so explicitly in the datasheet. Traffic to the pool goes out over the RJ45 port at 10/100 Mbit.

Custom firmware for the L9 comes from Vnish only, Hiveon does not cover the model and Braiins OS builds no Scrypt firmware. With Vnish each hashboard can be tuned individually in clock and voltage, throttled as well as pushed beyond the factory level, the fee for that is around two percent of the hashrate. The L9 needs no add-on card like Bitmain's Kaspa machines, flashing is done from an SD card or through the web interface. Before shipping we take care of it for 29.90 euros net per unit, only for machines you run yourself, not for miners in our hosting. After flashing there is no warranty, neither from Bitmain nor from us.

Comparison with the previous and the next generation of the L9

Before the L9 came the Antminer L7, with which Bitmain stood alone in the Scrypt market from late 2021 to mid-2024, after it the Antminer L11 of September 2025. The three machines compared:

  • Antminer L7: 360 J/GH (8.55 to 9.5 GH/s at 3,078 to 3,420 W)
  • Antminer L9: 210 J/GH (15 to 17 GH/s at 3,150 to 3,570 W)
  • Antminer L11: 184 J/GH (20 GH/s at 3,680 W)

Against the L7, the L9 almost doubled the hashrate per unit and cut the power per gigahash by a good 40 percent at practically the same connected load. The L11 adds another quarter of hashrate and around twelve percent better efficiency on top. Between the two lies a good year in which the L9 was Bitmain's strongest Scrypt miner. Verdict: Litecoin mining with the Antminer L9

The L9 has proven just as robust for us as its predecessor: in hosting it causes little trouble, just as little with our customers mining on their own, and we hear the same from partners. The units run very well for us and just as unobtrusively as the L7, with a stable power supply for months without intervention.

Failures are rare, and when they happen they affect a single hashboard.

The L9 is a very good Scrypt miner from Bitmain, robust and at 210 joules per gigahash clearly more efficient than the L7. On price we currently lean towards the L9 rather than the L11: the L9 is only slightly less efficient, and in our view the premium for the L11 is not worth it at the moment. How does buying a miner work?

The process is clear and done in a few steps: you enquire about the device you want, you receive a written quote with the final price from us, and as soon as you accept it, we issue the invoice. After full payment is received, we trigger the order and the hardware is on its way to you.

How can I pay?

You can pay conveniently by bank transfer in euros, in crypto (Bitcoin or USDC) or in cash against a receipt.

As throughout our business, payment is in advance: we trigger the order as soon as payment has been received in full. That keeps the process clean and predictable for both sides.

Are there discounts for larger quantities?

Yes, discounts are possible for larger quantities. How large they are depends on several factors - the device, the quantity, the delivery location and the respective procurement conditions.

What is included in the delivery?

On modern ASIC miners the power supply is built firmly into the machine and is therefore always included - it does not have to be bought separately. An external power supply only existed with very old first-generation models.

So you receive a ready-to-run device. Whatever else specifically belongs to the respective product is stated in the product description; in case of doubt we clarify it in the quote.

Is the miner in stock and how quickly is it delivered?

You can see availability directly on the product; in case of doubt we confirm it in the quote. The majority of our hardware is located in our main warehouse in Hong Kong and is shipped from there directly to your destination.

Individual devices are in stock in Germany (Hamm) - those reach you particularly quickly. We state the concrete delivery date bindingly in the quote, as soon as device and destination are clear.

How is it delivered - internationally and with customs clearance too?

We deliver worldwide. We handle the shipping and the complete import processing including customs clearance for you - you don't have to deal with it yourself. We state the shipping costs transparently in the quote.

That way the miner arrives ready to use at your place or the desired site. On request we deliver directly to our hosting, then the device goes into operation without a detour.

What requirements do I need for operation?

To operate at home or in your own business you mainly need three things: a suitable power connection (ASIC miners draw several kilowatts continuously, large devices often three-phase power), enough space with ventilation, and a stable internet connection via LAN.

On top of that come noise and waste heat: air-cooled devices are very loud and heat the room noticeably. Anyone who doesn't meet these requirements usually has the miner hosted - then we take care of power, cooling and operation.

How do I set up the miner and can I get help?

Commissioning is straightforward: connect the device, plug it into the network and configure it to your mining pool and wallet. After that the miner runs around the clock.

We don't leave you alone with it - we support you with setting up pool and wallet and the first steps, even without prior experience. Your personal contact is available for questions.

What warranty do I have on the device?

As a German company we offer you 12 months' warranty on your hardware as standard.

Alternatively, you can exclude the warranty in the purchase contract and handle it via the manufacturer's warranty - then the device becomes cheaper. We offer both routes; which one makes sense for you we clarify in the quote.

Can I have this miner hosted directly instead of running it myself?

Yes. You can buy the device from us and have it hosted in the same step - then it runs at a site with low-cost electricity, without noise and heat at your home.

As a business customer, can I cancel or return?

We sell our devices to businesses (B2B). A statutory consumer right of withdrawal therefore does not apply in B2B business; in addition, we procure and import the hardware specifically for your order.
