Do you want to start mining helium and buy a helium miner?

Here you can find all the information about exactly what helium mining is and how you can maximize your yield with a powerful antenna and optimized antenna orientation.

What is helium mining?

Helium mining in the helium network is a great alternative to power-hungry “normal” mining. The helium network is virtually a decentralized “mobile network”, which is based on the Helium blockchain. Internet of Things (IoT) users can use this network as alternative mobile network use, although the connection costs are only a fraction of the costs associated with normal mobile communications. This makes the network attractive for e-scooter providers, for example, who can run their scooters and apps over the network. But the helium network can do much more: anyone who adds a GPS tracker to their truck, bicycle or dog, for example, can track the stations via an app. This also applies to thermometers or other measuring devices that are used in art galleries to monitor the surroundings of valuable objects live. Overall, densely populated inner cities are particularly interesting for miners, as all of these devices require a connection to the Internet, which is provided by the helium network.

How does helium mining work?

Unlike traditional mining, helium mining is carried out using radio wave technology. In order to participate as a miner in the helium network, you need a special helium router and a powerful antenna. The router is connected to the Internet and the helium blockchain, and the antenna generates the largest possible network coverage. The higher the antenna is installed and the farther the antenna radiates, the higher the added value for the helium network and, accordingly, the higher is the income in HNT, the cryptocurrency of helium. The advantage of helium mining is that only very little energy is used for data transmission and most devices only consume between 5-15 watts of electricity.

What is important when mining helium?

Helium mining is primarily concerned with maximum network coverage. The better the network coverage is and the more added value the router brings to the network, the higher the HNT rewards.

Optimum hardware positioning is therefore largely responsible for high network coverage. Since data transmission takes place via radio waves, the physics of waves plays a particular role. If there are many physical obstacles around the antenna, such as houses or mountains, the rays are “blocked” and can no longer radiate. Accordingly, it is important to install an antenna as high as possible and free from obstacles in the area so that the greatest possible network coverage can be achieved.

It is also relevant how many helium miners are in the area. The more routers are set up nearby, the more miners have to share the “cake” (the rewards).
